Do not put a password in a chat or an email. It stays there for a long time. Paste it here. Send the link. The link works one time, and then the server deletes the password.
Tips
Send the whole link, with the part after the # sign.
For a password you care about, add a passphrase. Tell it to the person in another way, for example by phone.
Choose the shortest time that works: 1 hour is enough for most.
Ask the person to change the password after they use it. A link that was read once is safe, but the password was shown to a person.
Read the privacy page to see what the server stores.
Questions
Why not send a password in a chat message?
A chat message stays in the chat for a long time. Many people and many devices can read it later. A one-time link is deleted after the first view.
How do I send a password with more care?
Add a passphrase. Send the link in one message, and tell the passphrase in another way. A person who sees only one of them cannot read the password.
Which encryption does Secret link use?
It uses AES-GCM with a 256 bit key. The key comes from the random key in the link. With a passphrase, the key also comes from the passphrase (PBKDF2, 210000 rounds).
Can I make a strong password here?
No. This tool only sends a secret. Make the password in your password manager, then paste it here.
